What is the difference between Apple Juice and Apple Cider?
This simple question has a surprisingly complex answer. In the United States and Canada apple juice is filtered, pasteurized, and clear while apple cider is typically unfiltered, not pasteurized, and cloudy. There is little legal distinction between the two, so it is possible to find cloudy apple juice and clear apple cider. Fermented cider (alcoholic) is referred to as hard apple cider. The distinction is much simpler in the rest of the world. If the drink is alcohol free, it is juice; if there is alcohol, it is cider.
What is Mulled or Spiced Cider?
Mulled and Spiced are two different names for the same thing; non-alcoholic cider that is served warm and has been seasoned with herbs or spices. Commonly used seasonings are: cinnamon, cloves, orange peel, lemon zest, nutmeg, and ginger.
